About the position

As a Product Designer at OpenEye, you will be integral to the Software Engineering team, focusing on the development of user-facing interfaces for video management products. This role emphasizes collaboration with Product Management and Software Engineering to create UI designs that enhance user experience and functionality, while also advocating for impactful design solutions. You will tackle challenging UX/UI problems and contribute to the overall quality and usability of OpenEye's offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and refine OpenEye's design style guidelines.
  • Develop engineering-ready UI mockups.
  • Lead individual design projects from conception to completion, acting as the primary designer for assigned tasks.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and senior designers to refine and iterate on feature designs based on requirements and stakeholder feedback.
  • Conduct user research, including interviews and usability testing, to gather insights on user needs and pain points.
  • Perform routine reviews of UX changes developed by the software engineering team to ensure alignment with design standards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor products to continuously improve and innovate on OpenEye's user interfaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX or Product Design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design for complex applications.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Solid understanding of design principles, user-centered methodologies, and usability best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to advocate for design choices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Experience working in a software engineering or technology environment.
  • Basic understanding of software development processes and technologies.
