The Hired Guns are seeking a Product Designer with exceptional UX/UI skills and an overall mastery of web and app design who'd like a chance to work with a tech-giant-backed startup. The mission: making cities more accessible. This position offers the opportunity to work at a startup that has transformed into a mainstay over the last few years, with a focus on revolutionizing urban transportation, potentially surpassing the impact of companies like Uber or Google Maps. As the team's first design hire, you will play a crucial role in shaping the design across the brand, translating team requirements into compelling visual elements. In this role, you will be heavily involved in UX/UI work, creating user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. You will also be responsible for creating illustrations and animations using standard design tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InVision. A strong understanding of responsive and mobile design constraints is essential, along with a keen attention to typography, production, and image optimization. While your primary focus will be on application development, you will also support the marketing team by crafting visuals for web pages, advertisements, blog posts, emails, and various other marketing needs. Your role will require you to bring an understanding of B2B/SaaS best practices, conducting user research to refine your design approach. This position is not just about following orders; you will be expected to take the initiative, generate new ideas, articulate your thought process, and support your design solutions. Collaboration is key, but you will also be encouraged to challenge assumptions and push boundaries, both with users and your teammates. Success in this role means working across all aspects of the business to ensure design and UI consistency, creating an intuitive and holistic UI/UX experience across all user interactions and throughout the brand. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio that showcases their UI/UX design experience and production skills, and will be confident in presenting ideas and concepts to peers in various departments. A background in urban planning or experience with maps or geo-location projects is highly desirable, particularly in B2B industries. A passion for the future of cities and an interest in urban life interactions will set the best candidates apart.
