About the position

The Product Developer at Kaas Tailored is responsible for designing and developing new furniture and aerospace products, focusing on innovative solutions to meet customer needs. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires proficiency in CAD software to create detailed product designs. The position emphasizes quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, making it ideal for individuals who are organized, quick learners, and enjoy hands-on work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new products from initial concept through to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and industrial design to ensure product designs meet customer needs and company goals.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed product designs and specifications.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to select appropriate materials and production methods.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new products and processes.
  • Analyze and improve production systems, workflows, and assembly methods to enhance productivity.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work alongside industrial designers to ensure that product designs are manufacturable and meet technical specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX, Fusion360).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with commercial aerospace requirements and commercial furniture requirements.
  • Continuous learner mentality.
  • Fabrication experience utilizing hand tools; CNC machinery and general woodshop experience is a plus.
