About the position

At USAA, we are dedicated to facilitating the financial security of millions of U.S. military members and their families. As a Product Development Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the end-to-end development of new Property and Casualty (P&C) product opportunities. This position involves providing analytical support and conducting research on products and opportunities, as well as assisting with the rollout of new products. You will be accountable for analyzing performance across the product development life cycle and will support the Product Development team and partners with other Centers of Excellence (COEs) to compile, analyze, and interpret data to make strategic and tactical product development recommendations. Your responsibilities will include defining business questions and providing insights to improve business performance. In this role, you will support the development of digital-first products that cater to the needs and risks of USAA members. You will provide analytical support to develop strategies, launch, and refine new innovative product offerings, as well as auxiliary/enhanced features/services for existing products. This includes evaluating and deciding whether to buy, build, or ally for product development. You will generate creative product and coverage solutions to ensure a dynamic product development pipeline exists. Additionally, you will compile internal and external data and member information to support the formulation of product strategy and enhance competitive intelligence. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring, maintaining, and underwriting existing products based on performance, member needs, and competitive changes in the market. You will analyze and evaluate new product performance metrics to adapt offerings as necessary prior to full launch. Coordination with relevant control partners, including Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management, will be essential to ensure that product offerings are crafted and implemented in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will ensure that risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, supervised, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related field; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years proven experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services or relevant military experience.
  • Experience conducting research, compiling and analyzing data.
  • Proven experience supporting product and/or coordinated suite of products.
  • Understanding of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

Nice-to-haves

  • Property and Casualty product analyst experience.
  • Data analytics experience.
  • Experience in developing new Property & Casualty products outside of auto and property.
  • Experience in state management, pricing, underwriting, consumer insight/research or claims.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
