The Product Development Analyst position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the Powertrain & Fuel Subsystem lab (PFSL), where you will contribute to a wide range of vehicle component testing needs. This role involves collecting highly accurate data using various devices, including Labview, CPS-r7 Canister Stand Software, Allie-Cats flow meters, Precision Power Supplies, Pressure Indicators, and Watlow thermal controllers. You will need a high-level working knowledge of automobile functionality and manufacturing processes to perform these tasks effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for test site installation, equipment/instrumentation connection, and proper functional verification of test setups. You will also be required to become safety certified to perform high voltage electrical and mechanical tests upon start-up. The position requires proficiency in operating tools and machinery to fabricate simple and complex fixtures for part/component/assembly scanning and measuring. You will work cross-functionally with integrated teams in Manufacturing, Product Development, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, and Service, utilizing Design Thinking and User Experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. As a Product Development Analyst, you will manage test requests, schedules, and facilities at PFSL, ensuring accurate daily status reporting using ELMS tools. You will communicate work plans and project results with customers and management, process collected data into usable formats, and transfer it to corporate databases. Additionally, you will interact with key vendors for quoting, purchasing, and invoicing, and support department documentation efforts for procedures and work instructions. Your role will also involve maintaining lab operational metrics and ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, & Safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tools and machinery to fabricate simple and complex fixtures for part/component/assembly scanning and measuring.
  • Process ELMS requests and determine the best use of technology and method of data analysis by evaluating requests, engineering prints, tolerance and GD&T specifications, CAD models, and sketches.
  • Process collected data into usable format and transfer to corporate databases.
  • Communicate work-plan and project results with the customers and management.
  • Perform set up and measurement using high-speed cameras and digital image correlation techniques.
  • Manage test requests, schedules, and facilities at PFSL; accurate daily status reporting using ELMS tools.
  • Provide notification to test engineering and appropriate lab support personnel of facility issues as they arise, lead mitigation strategies to keep lab operating efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain lab operational metrics; coordinate common measurement system tools with other VEV test labs.
  • Interact with key vendors to secure proper quoting, purchasing, and invoicing.
  • Support department documentation efforts for procedures and work instructions.
  • Work with Environmental, Health, & Safety representatives as necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain test scheduling tools to enable the efficient operation of the lab's battery testing systems.
  • Work with internal customer teams to ensure that all requests are submitted with required test instructions adhering to established test methods and standards.
  • Assist other lab personnel in the day-to-day execution of testing as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage lab equipment inventory system.
  • Maintain and verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems.
  • Adhere to all Lab Procedures, lead process improvements, and comply with all Environmental, Health, & Safety, and ISO documented procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Labview, CPS-r7 Canister Stand Software, Microsoft Office, Accelerometers, and other Hand tools.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience using operating tools and machinery to fabricate simple and complex fixtures for part/component/assembly scanning and measuring.
