About the position

The Product Development Consultant role is a full-time position focused on providing business and process consulting expertise to enhance and expand client engagements in various manufacturing industries, including automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery, and more. This position requires a deep understanding of the product development process, manufacturing value chain, and the use of PLM tools. The consultant will be responsible for advising clients on best practices and technology solutions, leading transformational engagements, and ensuring effective delivery oversight and governance. The role also involves collaborating with clients to develop innovative solutions using emerging technologies and contributing to the thought leadership of the consulting group through publications and initiatives. As a key player in the consulting team, the Product Development Consultant will leverage their extensive experience in the continuous manufacturing industry to provide program management leadership and guide large-scale programs. The consultant will be expected to build strong relationships with clients at all levels, particularly within program and business leadership, and to identify opportunities for business growth that influence downstream IT projects. This position requires a proactive approach to strategizing and delivering process and IT technology transformations, ensuring that the solutions provided deliver significant business value to clients. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, with at least 8 years of relevant experience in product development and consulting. They should have hands-on experience with PLM tools and a solid understanding of enterprise technologies, as well as formal project management skills. The role is remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality consulting services to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Providing subject matter expertise to front-office client engagements
  • Advising clients on best-of-breed solutions from a process and technology standpoint
  • Leading and helping shape solution approaches and design
  • Ensuring delivery oversight and governance
  • Executing large-scale transformational engagements from a leadership perspective and/or SME perspective
  • Providing business value leadership to engagements via consulting skills
  • Providing program management leadership or guidance for large-scale programs
  • Collaborating and contributing to the thought leadership drive of the group via publications or active role in initiatives
  • Strategizing and delivering process and IT technology transformational initiatives via consulting skills
  • Developing innovative solutions using digital and emerging technologies in the context of client problems
  • Contributing to business growth by identifying opportunities and influencing downstream IT projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or any relevant domain)
  • 8+ years of experience in product development process areas in the continuous manufacturing industry
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing value chain processes, industry trends, and enabling technologies
  • Technical expertise & hands-on experience in one or more PLM tools (Windchill, Team Center, SAP PLM, Enovia, etc.)
  • Work experience in Product Analytics areas like product performance, reliability testing, and market analysis
  • Understanding of enterprise technologies like PLM, ERP, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in any of the PLM / CAD / Engineering tools
  • Experience in project management
