About the position

KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, and we are seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our RAPID HPC Team. This team is dedicated to providing pioneering High Performance Computing solutions that enable image processing algorithms for reticle and photomask inspections in real time. As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and engineering an embedded HPC Cluster, which is a critical sub-system in KLA's Photo Mask inspection tool. Your role will involve leading and driving efforts to prototype groundbreaking computational technologies, optimizing cost and computation time, and collaborating with peers to transition prototypes to production. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also be tasked with qualifying the technology stack, developing diagnostics, enhancing monitoring and observability, and supporting critical issues for both new and legacy products. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where innovation is key. Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer an embedded HPC Cluster for KLA's Photo Mask inspection tool.
  • Lead and drive efforts to prototype groundbreaking computational technologies.
  • Optimize cost and computation time for HPC solutions.
  • Collaborate with peers to transition prototypes to production.
  • Qualify the technology stack and develop diagnostics.
  • Enhance monitoring and observability for products.
  • Support critical issues for new and legacy products.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of one or more flavors of Linux (SUSE, Redhat, CentOS, Alma, Ubuntu) including experience in System-D, Netboot/PXE, and Linux HA.
  • Experience with configuration management utilities (Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
  • Ability to code in Shell, Python, and C, with knowledge of CUDA.
  • Network interconnect configuration and monitoring experience (e.g., InfiniBand, Ethernet).
  • Experience with server hardware, GPUs, RAID/HBA controllers, and storage technologies.
  • Familiarity with open source and parallel filesystems (BeegFS, Luster, MooseFS).
  • Superior understanding of x86 hardware platform stack and proven track record for modeling workloads and benchmark performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Apache/NGINX, setting up proxy/reverse proxy, application server routing, and load balancing (HA Proxy).
  • Proven track record in developing visualizations using Prometheus/Grafana stack.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of PKI & SSL/TLS certificate management.
