About the position
The Product Development Engineer for Crystal Growth at Momentive Technologies is responsible for driving application data generation, product design, and manufacturing technical support to enhance the company's presence in the wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor market. This role involves direct customer interaction and collaboration with various internal teams to ensure successful product development and market growth.
Responsibilities
- Work with commercial, technology, and operations teams to support customer development activities.
- Establish processing parameters to coat metal carbides on customer parts for crystal and wafer production.
- Define design constraints and timelines for development projects.
- Translate customers' product roadmaps into Momentive Technologies' product, production, and quality roadmaps.
- Facilitate production of newly designed products with the operations team, defining process requirements and training operators.
- Support the quoting process by evaluating feasibility based on capability and defining materials, machine, and operations requirements.
- Assist the commercial team in developing the sales pipeline by reviewing customer requirements and conducting product presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Physics with 5+ years' experience.
- Semiconductor material processing background or knowledge.
- Experience in project management, effectively planning and prioritizing deliverables in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to communicate with customers clearly and independently on projects.
- Ability to complete hands-on work in an industrial environment with necessary PPE.
Nice-to-haves
- Crystal growth or high temperature ceramics experience.
- CVD or high temperature vacuum coating processing knowledge.
- Experience in new product development using Stage-Gate process.
- Familiarity with mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
- Experience with material characterization techniques including XRD, SEM, EDS.
