About the position

The Product Development Engineer will work in a team environment to design, test, and improve the different product lines produced by Paul Mueller Company. This role involves a variety of essential job functions including designing, analyzing, and testing refrigeration equipment and heat exchangers, identifying mechanical engineering problems, and providing technical support across various departments. The engineer will also be responsible for performing structural and thermal performance calculations, suggesting design improvements, and ensuring safety compliance within the department. Additionally, the position may require up to 10% international travel for service and startup of products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and test different product lines, including refrigeration equipment and heat exchangers
  • Identify possible mechanical engineering problems and offer solutions
  • Perform structural and thermal performance calculations
  • Proficient in testing the different product lines
  • Work with a variety of test equipment
  • Provide technical mechanical engineering support for Sales, Manufacturing, QA, Service, and Customers
  • Assimilate, interpret, and plot data gathered from tests
  • Suggest and implement design improvements
  • Help introduce new projects into manufacturing, along with training and work instructions
  • Responsible for safety meetings and keeping department updated with company safety policies
  • Contact vendors as required
  • Maintain regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Have working knowledge of JDE
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration systems and testing
  • Ability to work in a team environment to complete specified goals

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer additional skills and experience in electrical, welding, grinding, gas brazing
