About the position

The Product Development Manager at Röhm will oversee and coordinate product innovation and application development for the Medical Segment globally, while also managing product and application development for the Automotive and LEOD Segment in the Americas. This role is crucial for driving innovation, supporting growth in various market segments, and ensuring alignment with global strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Propose new R&D initiatives and manage innovation project pipelines.
  • Provide new product and application development for acrylic molding compounds.
  • Collaborate with Application Development Engineers and Strategic Account Managers to qualify products for new customer opportunities.
  • Generate intellectual property to enhance commercial advantages.
  • Establish and maintain a product innovation and application database for Molding Compounds in the Americas.
  • Support Quality Improvement Projects investigation.
  • Work with Technical groups in Germany and China to align best practices.
  • Coach the technical team on polymeric material formulation, processing, and characterization.
  • Assist in scaling up new products to manufacturing environments.
  • Advocate in committees and working groups for Medical Segment standards.
  • Present to customers at conferences and trade fairs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer/Material Science, or Chemical Engineering; PhD preferred.
  • More than 5 years of experience in product & process development/application technology, preferably in Medical and Automotive Plastics.
  • Statistical knowledge or DOE experience.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment; experience in people management preferred.
  • Experience in R&D innovation project and pipeline management.
  • Experience in polymer formulation, processing, and characterization.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills for internal and external audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; SAP experience a plus.
