About the position

The Product Development Manager at Lovevery is responsible for leading complex product development projects from concept to reality. This role involves managing a fast-paced, cross-functional product development cycle that includes innovation, design, research, engineering, content creation, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a keen attention to detail, ensuring that products align with the brand's vision while meeting budget, time, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and connect deeply with the vision of new product ideas, driving the product team to meet brand alignment and requirements.
  • Create and own the end-to-end product development schedule for complex projects, turning innovative ideas into actionable tasks.
  • Lead a multi cross-functional project team, involving Innovation, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operation, and Marketing.
  • Prioritize deliverables in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders, making necessary adjustments along the way.
  • Identify risks and anticipate potential issues that could impact the schedule, proactively resolving problems to stay on track.
  • Manage trade-offs for product details and identify negotiation opportunities.
  • Work closely with upper management to ensure project scope and direction align with Lovevery's values and standards.
  • Creatively and critically solve problems as they arise, making suggestions for improvements.
  • Track product costs to ensure COGS meet targets and balance them to maximize perceived product value.
  • Lead Product Development Associates in documentation, planning photoshoots, and operational deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the overseas sourcing team and factories, with potential travel to Asia 2-3 times a year.
  • Review customer feedback to inform product improvement strategies and support the Innovation team.
  • Stay updated on trends in the parent and baby space, bringing insights to daily work.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience with project management or product development and manufacturing processes, preferably in physical product development.
  • Strong project management and detail orientation; knowledge of project management software such as MS Project.
  • Experience managing overseas projects preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks through excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate level in Excel for handling numbers.
  • Ability to work and remain adaptable in a fluid, fast-paced environment.
  • Creative and resourceful with an understanding of manufacturing timelines and techniques.
  • Deep empathy and intuition for parents, caregivers, and young children.
  • Overall aesthetic sensibility with the ability to visualize and conceptualize beautiful product experiences.
  • Familiarity with Windows Operating system is preferred.
  • BS in New Product Development or related field of study.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management software other than MS Project.
  • Knowledge of additional manufacturing techniques and processes.
