About the position

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking a Product Development Manager to oversee the Small Commercial package, a critical role that will guide the next stage of growth for the company. This position is based in one of several locations, including New York, NY, Parsippany, NJ, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, or Wilkes Barre, PA. The Product Development Manager will work closely with the product development leader to document and version strategies that align with the company's goals. This role requires a strong ability to contribute data-driven and experience-driven ideas, actively supporting the execution of strategic initiatives that enhance the company's product offerings. The successful candidate will assist in the development, drafting, and enhancement of forms and forms language, providing strategic input and actionable recommendations. They will support the design, development, and implementation of system and process solutions that align with the forms implementation strategy. Collaboration with training and marketing teams will be essential to develop communication, training, and marketing materials for new or enhanced products and initiatives. The role may also involve delivering training materials or content to ensure that all stakeholders are well-informed about product changes. Additionally, the Product Development Manager will conduct competitor intelligence research and demonstrate awareness of each state's regulatory environment and legislative rules to ensure compliance standards are met. They will document, maintain, and version control forms attachment logic, and collaborate with the Strategic Business Analysis Unit for ad-hoc analysis to support strategies and initiatives. The role also includes creating, maintaining, and version controlling templates, documentation, and schedules for underwriting audits, ensuring that all processes are streamlined and efficient.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with concentration in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences (J.D. preferred but not required).
  • 5+ years of Commercial Product or Underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills; attention to detail.
  • Comfortable and proficient working in a matrixed environment, with stakeholders at various levels and in various departments.
