About the position

The Product Development Manager at American Trading International, Inc. (ATI) is responsible for overseeing all company private labels and special labeling requirements. This role involves leading and coordinating processes to ensure efficient service for label development, analyzing data, negotiating with printers, and providing internal guidance on label matters. The position is crucial for maximizing profitability and ensuring accuracy in label production while supporting the Sales and Logistics teams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business opportunities with new printers and substrates to meet customer requirements and reduce costs.
  • Negotiate costs of artwork setup, printing, and storage with printers.
  • Conduct cost evaluations for label development to maximize profitability.
  • Update customers on lead times, label development status, and costs.
  • Expedite work orders and manage the process of labels and cost absorption.
  • Ensure accuracy of work orders and labels, including artwork proofs and branding.
  • Conduct quarterly/annual printer conference calls and follow up on negotiations.
  • Monitor label development flow for new private labels for existing and new accounts.
  • Coordinate with Logistics and Sales teams on label development status and reorder timeframes.
  • Request samples of new labels and products for archiving and display.
  • Track costs and identify responsible parties for cost absorption.
  • Create and maintain training materials for team processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • 2 - 4 years experience as a Product Development Manager in the CPG industry.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience with pre-press, proofing systems, and various printing methods.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills; grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
