About the position

The Product Development Manager is responsible for leading and coaching a team focused on launching new diagnostic specimen kits. This role involves coordinating the design, sourcing, and distribution of kit samples, as well as overseeing the entire product development life cycle from ideation to launch. The manager will also work on improving processes and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the quality and speed of product development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach the Product Development team.
  • Implement product development vision, strategy, and standards in alignment with management goals.
  • Increase turnaround time and quality of key functions to internal customers.
  • Prioritize incoming projects, tasks, and deliverables and monitor/track activities.
  • Ensure quality checks are incorporated into each phase of Product Development work.
  • Train new Product Development team members.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate Product Development KPIs to business leaders.
  • Develop new specimen collection kits based on customer requirements.
  • Finalize Bill of Materials, product labeling, and kit components for new kits or variations.
  • Coordinate artwork design and revisions between customers, sales team, and vendors.
  • Coordinate new item setup with Purchasing to ensure accurate pricing and availability for customers.
  • Configure kits, labels, and create assembly instructions for each kit in collaboration with operations and distribution.
  • Set up new items accurately in the Netsuite system.
  • Provide consultative suggestions/alternatives to exhibit creative solutions.
  • Identify and develop continuing education opportunities in industry trends.
  • Ensure kits meet appropriate transportation regulations.
  • Build and develop relationships with current and potential suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms needed to assist the sales team in closing new business.
  • Effectively communicate with the sales team and customers to identify pain points and present solutions.
  • Update and train the sales team on products, processes, and shipping regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in management, preferably managing a project team.
  • Bachelor's degree required (Project management, Engineering, Operations, or related fields preferred).
  • Product Management Experience (PMP certificate preferred).
  • Experience in manufacturing of custom products preferred.
  • Experience in the medical products industry preferred.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Wrike and NetSuite experience is preferred.
