The Product Development Sales Engineer Hybrid position serves as a crucial communication hub among three key departments: operations, sales, and engineering. This role is essential for ensuring that clear communication is maintained and documented between these groups. The Sales Engineer acts as a primary point of contact for sales support related to all Telkonet products and services, ensuring that controls are sold, set up, and configured correctly across various HVAC systems. Additionally, the Sales Engineer is responsible for monitoring customer systems, addressing outages, and resolving hardware or software issues promptly and proactively, ensuring that all customer inquiries and requests are handled efficiently. In this role, the Sales Engineer must be comfortable working with complex HVAC system controls and wiring, engaging with both existing and prospective clients on the technical aspects of Telkonet products, and conducting physical surveys of HVAC equipment. They will collaborate with the sales team on quote specifics and cost-based decision-making. The Sales Engineer also serves as the engineering support, customer project support, and internal company support, acting as a tier 2 support escalation point. As the Subject Matter Expert on Telkonet products, services, and integrations, they will play a vital role in training the sales staff, ensuring that the sales teams and partners are well-informed about the products, services, and necessary systems and processes to complete the order lifecycle. The Sales Engineer's responsibilities include qualifying new project requests for HVAC compatibility with Telkonet products, researching various manufacturers and models of HVAC units for control sequences, designing relay kits and wire schematics for manual control units, and providing support to existing customers regarding the setup and installation of Telkonet controls and peripherals. They will also assist in developing standard processes and tools, establish ongoing partnerships with customers on assigned projects, conduct facility energy and wireless propagation audits, and work with various teams to enhance best practices based on project learnings. The role requires maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors, staying current with engineering standards, and assisting in preparing customer documents and submittals. The Sales Engineer should expect to travel approximately 50% of the time, and other duties may be assigned as needed.
