About the position

The Product Development Senior Analyst at Whirlpool Corporation is responsible for leading the development and execution of global mechanical structures subsystems for the refrigeration team. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive new product development, focusing on structural modules, and ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness in product design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for refrigeration business with focus on structural modules
  • Own and drive structural module development - concept development & conversion into design, concept evaluation & selection, testing and implementation
  • Fine tuning of concept (hand calculations, Fit & Finish, material selection, design for Manufacturing/design for assembly)
  • Drive module level requirements, functional decomposition of requirement, perform FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis), work with stakeholders on verification and validation plan
  • Drive design using simple Six Sigma or OPEX operational excellence tools, apply GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) stack up, perform drawing review, usage of simple Pro/e tools
  • Understanding and reviewing simulation reports (ANSYS, Mold flow etc) and incorporating recommendations into design
  • Overall Coordination Structural components for NPI, Cost and quality projects with focus on technical solutions and deliverables
  • Own roadmaps and strategy plans around specific Structures Module and attribute
  • Coach and Mentor to other associate engineers in the team to develop structural competency in the team
  • Administrative functions: training, team building, NPI and Cost quality project Coordination etc.
  • Availability for travel; regional (once a quarter on average) / international (may be required)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering and New Product Development

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material science
  • 1+ years of experience in requirements engineering and management
  • Experience in the field of Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy industries, Appliance, HVAC industries
  • Certified Reliability Engineer, AVS (Associate Value Specialist) Certified, System Engineering Certification
  • Problem-solving approach with OPEX (Operational Excellence) or Six Sigma certification
  • Hands-on experience in the design and development of appliance products
  • Experience facilitating effective communication across cross-functional teams ranging from highly technical resources to business resources and spread out over North America, Asia, and Europe
