About the position

The Apparel Product Development Intern will support the Product Development & Sourcing team at Duluth Trading Company during a 10-week internship program. This role involves assisting in various aspects of apparel development to help achieve company goals, providing a hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor seasonal development progress, identifying cost, lead time, and MOQ issues to appropriate teams when needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, technical design & planning throughout all stages of development to execute brand objectives.
• Maintain product specifications in PLM, including updating bills of materials, prototype requests, and construction details.
• Analyze cost details and validate cost components in garment cost calculations to support negotiations.
• Manage external vendor relationships and daily communication to ensure products meet quality standards and are delivered on time.
• Communicate daily with suppliers to proactively manage development issues.
• Track samples and answer vendor questions in a timely manner to ensure key deliverables are met.
• Prepare necessary documents for milestone meetings, such as costing & lead time recaps.
• Assist with lab dip, trim & strike-off comments, and organization of approval records.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in apparel design, business supply chain, or a related field; Junior or Senior in college preferred.
• Equivalent work experience would be considered.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Clear communication skills.
• Knowledge of garment construction.
