Neapco is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Product Development Engineering Technician, reporting directly to the Product Development Test Center Manager. This position is based out of our South East Michigan facility. Compensation dependent upon qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the testing & validation of driveshaft and halfshaft systems and component designs that exceed customer expectations
  • Experience in reviewing customer DVP&R plans and translate that into Neapco test plan, containing which machine, test duration, and expected results. Dynamometer, Fatigue, Strength, Environment.
  • Organize and create test engineering reports. Data analysis. Photographs. Templates.
  • Lead primary engineering interface activity with engineering peers and at the customer when necessary, regarding all aspects of Neapco lab testing. Machine information. Test setup information. Results summary.
  • Initiate and manage all test activity for responsible program including ensuring the test is run properly in the lab, post-test analysis, teardown and reports in support of development plans
  • Support root cause analysis activities related to warranty or quality returns
  • Learn the programming and operating basics of all test machines. MTS. Link. Labview based.
  • Manage time between hands on in the test laboratory and office work at your desk.
  • This is a 5 days a week, in-lab position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (such as BSME)
  • 5-10 years of experience in a test setting of machines and report generations with data analysis.
  • High level of analytical ability
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently & effectively with others
  • High level of oral & written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Design & release experience with driveline, powertrain, or chassis systems
  • Familiarity with CAE tools, Six Sigma quality techniques, and powertrain NVH
  • Familiarity with iron castings, steel forgings, aluminum, heat treat, and weld techniques
  • Familiarity with TS-16949 and automotive PPAP requirements
