About the position

PicnicHealth is at the forefront of transforming how life sciences companies advance medicine while providing immediate value to the patients who contribute to research. By engaging directly with patients and utilizing advanced machine learning techniques, PicnicHealth curates comprehensive medical records from consenting patients, generating high-quality evidence that life sciences companies require at a significantly reduced cost compared to traditional study models. This innovative approach not only facilitates research but also empowers patients by granting them immediate access to their medical records through a user-friendly portal, thereby enhancing participation and engagement in research initiatives. To date, PicnicHealth has successfully assisted tens of thousands of patients in securely accessing their records and actively contributing to research in diseases that affect their lives. Founded in 2014, PicnicHealth has established partnerships with 12 of the top 20 biopharma companies and has raised over $100 million in venture capital from notable investors such as Amplify Partners, Felicis Ventures, and B Capital Group. The company is on a mission to make a significant impact on millions of lives through its innovative solutions and is seeking passionate individuals to join its award-winning team. As a Senior Product Engineer on the Data Production Team, you will play a crucial role in processing and requesting tens of thousands of pages of medical records weekly to construct a detailed timeline of each patient's healthcare journey. For those willing to share their data for research purposes, you will help assemble some of the most comprehensive real-world evidence datasets available. This process is facilitated by the systems and applications developed by the Data Production squad, particularly the HIPE application (Human-in-the-Loop Processing Engine), which employs sophisticated machine learning and well-designed UI/UX to assist experts in efficiently extracting data from medical records as they are received. Your responsibilities will encompass owning features from inception to completion, including planning and structuring data models, designing, and building front-end interfaces, and tackling various challenges such as visualizing medical information, implementing data pipelines for large language models, and enhancing application performance. You will be expected to work independently, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy in solving complex problems and focusing on user and business impact.
