About the position

The Product Engineer for Tailored Solutions at Haworth plays a crucial role in supporting the Architectural Products (Walls) business unit by executing designs for non-standard products. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, responding to multiple requests daily, evaluating product feasibility, determining costs, and ensuring high-quality outputs that meet customer design intents. The role is distinct from traditional engineering design roles due to its dynamic nature and the variety of products involved.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigation into materials, processes, and products assigned by management team.
• Assist senior engineers by utilizing engineering principles to design new products.
• Determine proper material selection by performing static and dynamic engineering calculations with CAD and PCs.
• Analyze material costs to determine material mass and volume properties.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering to determine best design to minimize labor and overhead costs.
• Review form, fit, and function of product designs with Engineering Designers using CAD and PCs.
• Develop engineering detail and assembly documentation to support tooling quotations and manufacturing processes.
• Request prototypes from outside suppliers for engineering performance testing.
• Assemble prototype products using power and hand tools.
• Perform other duties within scope as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in engineering or equivalent in relevant field of study.
• Associate Degree plus 2 years related experience or 4 years of additional engineering experience.
• Unrestricted right to work in the US.
• Ability to work and commute onsite daily to headquarters in Holland, MI.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 or more years of product engineering experience.
• Experience in product development in commercial settings.
