About the position

The Product Engineer position at Tenneco is situated within the Central Engineering Department, which plays a crucial role in providing engineering support to the DRiV Aftermarket Braking Division. This department is responsible for various key functions including New Product Introductions, product drawing creation, drawing management, and overseeing all component reviews and approvals. The role requires a proactive approach to engineering tasks, ensuring that all responsibilities are met with a high level of professionalism and dependability. As a Product Engineer, you will be expected to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and pride in your work. Flexibility in accepting assignments and schedules is essential, as is maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance at all times. Safety is a priority, and adherence to all safety rules while performing assigned tasks is mandatory. You will interface with various internal departments such as manufacturing, marketing, sales, and purchasing, which requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. Your technical responsibilities will include the creation and modification of engineering drawings using AutoCAD or BricsCAD, as well as managing these drawings within the Autodesk PLM database. You will also be tasked with maintaining Engineering BOM data, reviewing Component and Finished Goods PPAPs, and writing ECOs for approved components. Additionally, you will review and validate sample disc brake components, perform OE assessments on rotors, and assist with Edge code registration submissions. Travel to manufacturing locations may be required as part of your duties.

  • Creation and modification of engineering drawings using AutoCAD or BricsCAD
  • Load DWG drawings into Autodesk PLM database
  • Create and load PDF drawings into Autodesk PLM database
  • Maintain Engineering BOM data in Autodesk
  • Review Component and Finished Goods PPAPs and load approved PSWs in Autodesk
  • Write ECOs in Autodesk for approved Components
  • Review NPI BOMs in SAP and compare to NPI records for approval
  • Review and validate sample disc brake components
  • Perform OE assessments on Rotors and document findings in Rotor NPI database
  • Assist with Edge code registration submissions and maintenance
  • Create and maintain packaging labels in the plant wide box label database
  • Travel to manufacturing locations as required

Requirements

  • Minimum education: BS Engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
  • 2 to 4 years of manufacturing engineering or product engineering experience
  • Knowledge of automotive industry is very helpful, with a preference for interest in automotive braking systems
  • Strong computer skills required, must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excel experience required
  • AutoCAD or BricsCAD experience required
  • Candidate must display maturity and a high level of professionalism
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required
