About the position

The Product Engineer at Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) plays a crucial role in evaluating designs for manufacturability and leading the development of new products into production. This position involves technical leadership on projects, ensuring the production viability of new designs, and acting as a liaison between customers and the company. The role requires expertise in mechanical design, tool design, and manufacturing processes, contributing to the successful missions of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation including manufacturing instructions, routings, process specifications, and tooling.
  • Providing continuity during transitions from proposals to production by acting as the main technical liaison between the customer and EBAD.
  • Solving manufacturing problems, investigating process failures, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Coordination with other departments to ensure the production viability of new designs and internal and customer approval of documentation.
  • Interface with production personnel including operators, quality inspectors, and shop floor supervisors.
  • Implementation of Lean methodologies including standard work, point of use tooling, material presentation, and process improvements.
  • Development of automated test fixtures and assembly tools.
  • Development of layouts of manufacturing cell design including tooling, machinery, and equipment.
  • Creation of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Technical compliance and risk assessment.
  • Creating standard work and contributing to manufacturing cell planning.
  • Tracking status and ensuring completion of operations milestones and tasks for production programs.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering.
  • Manufacturing or related engineering experience in multi-part mechanisms and mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of space vehicle mechanisms and systems.
  • Experience with CAD, 3-D modeling, assembly creation, drawings, and GD&T.
  • Design of tooling and fixtures.
  • Design for Manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
  • Formal problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Project management skills with the ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
  • Experience working with aerospace products and processes.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise/Manufacturing Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
