About the position

The Product Engineering Lab Test Technician at Prysmian Group is responsible for conducting tests and supporting the development of wire and cable systems, harness systems, and materials. This role involves ensuring safety and compliance with health and environmental policies while performing various testing procedures and documenting results. The technician will also assist in the design and acquisition of testing equipment and provide technical support in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and perform all tasks according to specific Job Safety Practices (JSP) safety established for this job.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment following safety and housekeeping procedures.
  • Adhere to all Prysmian Group health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Review and determine testing needs for programs, setting up and performing program testing to specifications.
  • Conduct material testing, cable testing, and capability studies for critical characteristics.
  • Document testing procedures and results in various formats (Excel, Word) using technical language.
  • Assist with risk analysis of new designs or processes through testing and observations.
  • Assist with the design and acquisition of testing fixtures and new testing equipment.
  • Support prototype building of wire and cable and select wire harness.
  • Provide testing technical support in cross-functional teams as required.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities and control further processing of nonconforming products.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for the operation of the laboratory facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with STEM knowledge including basic physics, electric circuits, chemistry, and mathematics (algebra).
  • Good reading and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Word software.
  • Prefer experience in CAD systems, automation controls, and database programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and activities effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, chemical, and analytical equipment.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste handling procedures.
