About the position

We're looking for an exceptional leader to anchor greenfield product engineering efforts in our New York office! You'll directly manage one to two product engineering teams and be accountable for their success. You'll partner closely with the founders and an amazing EPD team to build powerful experiences for all users that drive critical outcomes for the business. You'll have a front seat in shaping the evolution of Hex's EPD organization. Product engineering teams at Hex work on things like Hex's library of cell types, and all the capabilities they support, workflows for no code users to easily get data insights from Hex, a governed, searchable workspace where all users find exactly the data insights they need, a powerful frontend experience to seamlessly create and edit small and large data projects, and more! Responsibilities

  • Directly manage one to two product engineering teams and be accountable for their success.
  • Partner closely with the founders and EPD team to build powerful user experiences.
  • Shape the evolution of Hex's EPD organization.
  • Oversee the development of Hex's library of cell types and their capabilities.
  • Facilitate workflows for no code users to gain data insights from Hex.
  • Manage a governed, searchable workspace for data insights.
  • Enhance the frontend experience for creating and editing data projects.

Requirements

  • At least 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 4+ in a management capacity.
  • A keen eye for delightful software experiences, particularly in collaborative SaaS products.
  • Genuine interest in deep technical problems and balancing iteration speed with long-term quality.
  • Hands-on approach, including reading RFCs, giving feedback on designs, and using the product frequently.
  • Excellent execution track record in shipping complex, full-stack projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate through uncertainty and ambiguity in an early-stage environment.
  • Clear, proactive communication with less technical stakeholders.
  • Inspiring and compassionate people management skills.
  • Experience hiring exceptional individuals and attracting talent to Hex.
  • Conviction on effective engineering practices.
