About the position

The Product Lifecycle Electrical Engineer at AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the ownership and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure products within AWS's rapidly expanding data center footprint. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while providing efficient capacity for customers. The engineer will support AWS data centers by providing electrical infrastructure expertise, working closely with product development teams, and acting as a global resource for electrical products deployed in data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to understand all facets of each product during development and testing.
  • Support products throughout their operational life.
  • Review, update, and approve equipment submittals.
  • Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as operations and design teams.
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones.
  • Support operations with failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance, and troubleshooting support.
  • Listen to customer feedback to identify improvements for product reliability and availability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with power distribution systems.
  • 5+ years of project experience with low voltage (LV) distribution systems focusing on protection relay, circuit breaker, switchgear, and transformer systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and industry design trends.
  • Experience interpreting electric codes such as NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, ANSI C37, IEC 62271, or IEC61439.
  • Familiarity with relay and instrumentation control schematics and quality control in manufacturing.
  • Ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions that reduce costs without impacting quality or reliability.
  • Direct experience with the design or operation of data centers or substations.
