About the position

The Product Line Manager at Xylem is responsible for overseeing the entire product management system within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing product management policies, managing a team of product management professionals, and ensuring that product initiatives align with company objectives. The manager will conduct audits, review product performance data, and collaborate with various departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct personnel activities of the product management team, supporting regional sales teams and defining pricing strategies.
  • Lead collaboration with finance, sales, and operations to ensure accurate revenue and margin forecasts.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with finance to build solid processes related to product financials.
  • Drive a responsive culture focused on outstanding customer service.
  • Implement and execute 80/20 initiatives within product portfolios.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and standardization in product management processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, Sales, Business Development, and Marketing to build a new product funnel.
  • Develop strategic initiatives for new product introductions and manage them through the Stage Gate process.
  • Collect market feedback and prioritize changes for existing products.
  • Coordinate with engineering, planning, procurement, sales, and finance to meet cost targets and profitability objectives.
  • Develop technical, sales, and marketing literature for products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in product management, with 2-5 years as a people manager.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and matrix organization.
  • Ability to resolve complex technical and business issues.
  • Self-starter with high motivation to achieve goals.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in product management tools and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing and executing new product development (NPD) strategies.
  • Knowledge of market research and competitive analysis techniques.
