About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Asset Based Lending Product Director who will play a pivotal role in shaping the product strategy and roadmap for Capital Finance and Specialized Industries. This position reports to the Product Management Executive responsible for these areas. The director will be tasked with designing exceptional client experiences that not only meet but exceed expectations, thereby driving long-term business value. A deep understanding of the industry and market needs within Asset Based Lending and Specialized Industries is essential, as is a comprehensive grasp of the end-to-end operating model, from originations to operations. In this role, the director will lead and align cross-functional teams to drive measurable outcomes and customer benefits. This includes being responsible for key business and customer metrics, as well as the related processes and policies, including risk and controls. The director will manage and develop specialized teams of managers and individual contributors, ensuring that the teams are equipped to analyze customer data and results-oriented information effectively. Conducting market research to inform the development and testing of services and products will also be a critical responsibility. The director will identify opportunities and strategies for establishing pricing policies, distribution strategies, technical systems, and customer requirements within Asset Based Lending. Additionally, they will manage company-wide efforts to align and coordinate distribution channels, systems requirements, product introduction, marketing, training, and ongoing product and service management. Strategic decision-making will be crucial in resolving complex product line issues to meet deliverables, and the director will interpret and develop a range of new products or product lines, managing the product life cycle for functions with moderate to high complexity and risk. Collaboration and influence will be key components of this role, as the director will work closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, project managers, and experienced leaders. They will also manage the allocation of people and financial resources for Product Management and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design exceptional client experiences that exceed expectations and drive long-term business value via product strategy and roadmap alignment.
  • Understand industry and market needs within Asset Based Lending and Specialized Industries, including the end-to-end operating model from originations to operations.
  • Lead and align cross-functional coordination, driving measurable outcomes and customer benefits.
  • Manage key business and customer metrics, processes, and policies, including risk and controls.
  • Manage and develop specialized teams of managers and professional individual contributors.
  • Analyze customer and results-oriented information to inform product decisions.
  • Perform market research related to the development and testing of services and products.
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for pricing policies, distribution strategies, technical systems, and customer requirements.
  • Manage company-wide efforts to align and coordinate distribution channels, systems requirements, product introduction, marketing, training, and ongoing product and service management.
  • Make strategic decisions to resolve complex product line issues to meet deliverables.
  • Interpret and develop a range of new products or product lines and manage product life cycle for functions with moderate to high complexity and risk.
  • Collaborate with and influence stakeholders, subject matter experts, project managers, and experienced leaders.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Product Management.
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 4+ years of Management experience.
  • 10+ years of financial services industry experience, either directly within or closely associated with capital finance.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven leadership skills including relationship building, partnering, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile execution structures.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; MBA preferred.
