About the position

As the Product Manager for ArcGIS Notebooks and the ArcGIS Python libraries, you will play a pivotal role in empowering users to leverage technology that enhances their spatial data science workflows. This position involves defining the vision and product strategy for these capabilities, ensuring they are effectively implemented across various platforms, including desktop, server, and SaaS. Your efforts will help Esri maintain its competitive edge by driving innovation in the field of spatial data science. In this role, you will be expected to maintain a strong understanding of spatial data science and related technologies, serving as a subject matter expert not only for the product team but also across the entire company. You will inform the product strategy for Notebooks and Python libraries, ensuring cohesion and continuity by collaborating closely with development, engineering, and other product teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning and managing the product lifecycle for each aspect of the Notebooks and Python library product lines. Your responsibilities will also include conducting competitive analysis and market research, gathering requirements from various sources, including customer interactions, and presenting and evangelizing the product within the user community. This will involve participation in trade shows, conferences, hackathons, webinars, publications, and social media engagements. Your role will have high visibility to Esri leadership and the broader ArcGIS community, making effective communication and collaboration skills essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong understanding of spatial data science & related technologies, serving as a subject matter expert for the product team and across the company
  • Inform Notebooks & Python library product strategy for Esri and ensure cohesion and continuity by working closely with development, engineering, and other product teams
  • Plan and manage the product lifecycle of each aspect of the Notebooks & Python library product lines
  • Participate in competitive analysis and perform market research
  • Gather requirements from several different sources including from customer interactions
  • Present and evangelize the product in the user community and at internal and external trade shows, conferences, hackathons, as well as through webinars, publications, and social media

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in technical product management
  • Experience with spatial analysis tools and technologies
  • Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and/or other open science technologies
  • Experience creating products for analysts and data scientists
  • Experience managing products that have multiple implementation options and/or architectural patterns (SaaS, server software, desktop software, APIs, and more)
  • Strong storytelling, listening, and collaboration skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at the technical level
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, engineering, remote sensing, photogrammetry, or related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GIS software
  • Proven success working on products in one or more of the following disciplines: data engineering / data science, visualization and exploration, spatial analysis, machine learning / deep learning / AI, modeling and scripting, big data, or analytics operationalization
