About the position

As a Product Manager for Asset Modeling at Hitachi Energy, you will play a crucial role in supporting business results by overseeing all steps in the product/service life cycle. This includes roadmap development, product launch, maintenance, releases, pricing, and ensuring profitability according to market needs and the Product Group's strategy and targets. You will be responsible for the Asset Modeling product line, which encompasses production cost models and generation/capacity expansion models. Your role will involve owning the technical and market specifications for existing or new products and services, determining a business plan that supports sustainable growth, and leading the life cycle management process. This includes analyzing current products, defining and tracking performance metrics, and planning appropriate measures such as enhancements, cost reductions, and phase-outs to meet current and future market requirements while maximizing profitability. In addition to managing existing products, you will contribute to the development of new portfolios by leading customer needs and value analysis, planning the roadmap to create maximum value, and following up on product and service portfolio performance. You will prioritize new product and service development projects, ensuring that targets are achieved while coordinating cross-functional teams. Your responsibilities will also include owning and approving defined product and service development process stage gates, defining product/service pricing guidelines, and driving the annual business planning process. You will act as an interface between the external market and internal functions, forecasting market and product direction, and providing inputs to ensure that bandwidth and skill sets are aligned with market needs. Your role will also involve initiating and driving product market communication strategies, including product launch planning and implementation. You will manage different channel-to-market scenarios in coordination with channel partners and Marketing & Sales to ensure optimal market coverage. Additionally, you will provide technical and commercial support to the sales force for critical negotiations and collaborate with internal teams to define the marketing plan, including communication activities and sales initiatives. You will define the product customer value proposition per segment/channel and ensure clear communication to channels and users, delivering clear product positioning within the portfolio. Innovation is a key aspect of your role, as you will initiate and drive cross-functional product and solution innovation, monitor the development of standards and market trends, and provide inputs to R&D for intellectual property rights protection. You will coordinate analysis to evaluate the market and contribute to marketing plan development, meeting with customers and internal stakeholders to determine the necessary product direction to achieve revenue targets. Finally, you will ensure that your area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed, guiding and developing indirect subordinates within HR policies while living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, Mathematics, Economics or related technical area.
  • Work authorization that permits employment in the United States.
  • Post graduate degree and experience is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of software product management experience is a plus.
  • Real world experience or awareness of energy production cost model usage in transmission planning, generation planning, energy trading or research application.
  • Ten years' experience in the energy markets focused on energy data, production cost modeling and energy market planning is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills working in Agile Scrum environment.
  • Strong presentation skills and strategic thinking.
  • Business-minded with a focus on profitability.
