About the position

The Product Manager for Business Development at Merck Sharp & Dohme is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic initiatives related to business development. This role focuses on implementing digital products that support competitive intelligence, business development, and alliance management, utilizing the Scrum/Agile framework to enhance the company's growth. The position requires a customer-centric approach, effective stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage a cross-functional team to deliver impactful product features.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and own the digital product roadmap and vision.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach by understanding business processes and gathering user insights.
  • Own the creation, definition, and prioritization of the digital product backlog.
  • Build, manage, mentor, and coach a squad consisting of indirect reports and external partners.
  • Engage with enterprise stakeholders and incorporate their input into the team's work.
  • Empower the team to determine effective and efficient delivery of development work.
  • Groom best-in-class product features with detailed analysis of impact vs. value.
  • Stay current with Business Development strategic planning trends and innovation opportunities.
  • Clarify requirements and delivery expectations with business stakeholders.
  • Manage the budget for assigned Squad(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years managing and/or developing IT systems.
  • Exceptional prioritization, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen; strategic, analytical, and innovative; proactive and self-directed.
  • Effective at navigating whitespace/greenfield opportunities.
  • Critical thinker who can effectively embrace new ideas and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading deployments.
  • Experience motivating and leading teams with and without authority.
  • Certified Scrum Product Manager.
  • Experience working on Agile teams and knowledge of Scrum framework.
