About the position

The Product Manager Consultant role at Blue Shield of California is focused on supporting the execution of product strategies across various health plans. This position is integral to the full product life cycle, from development and enhancement to ongoing maintenance of both new and existing products. The consultant will work closely with Principal Product Managers to ensure alignment with strategic goals and will be responsible for managing project plans and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Principal Product Managers to understand strategic intent, key product features, target market, and competitive positioning
  • Assist Principal Product Managers in translating approved strategies into implementation requirements
  • Collaborate on streamlining and editing member facing materials across all lines of business to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with product strategies
  • Design and manage project plans, roadmaps, and operational readiness dashboards to execute product strategies
  • Collect, assemble, and disseminate project information, including meeting agendas, timelines, and minutes
  • Analyze data, publish recurring and ad hoc reports, and provide summary of findings
  • Support development of standardized templates for day-to-day and month-to-month activities
  • Regularly update cross-line-of-business product portfolio scorecards
  • Lead process improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of prior relevant experience in supporting product development, management, and overall lifecycle
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Advanced Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for storytelling
  • Experience and knowledge of health care regulatory requirements (ie, DMHC, DHCS, CDI, Covered California) strongly preferred
  • Experience with project management and cross-functional stakeholder management strongly preferred
  • Experience and adaptability to leverage systems such as JIRA, Facets, or similar tools
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and an analytical mindset
  • Experience gathering and evaluating external competitor information and insights
