About the position

As a Product Manager at EDB, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of complex technical products that cater to enterprise-class, data-intensive needs. This position requires a deep understanding of distributed databases and systems, as well as experience with highly available products. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our products and features not only meet customer needs but also provide a seamless user experience that can deliver results in 'minutes to wow'. You will work cross-functionally with various teams, including engineering, marketing, and sales, to take ideas from conception through to production, ensuring that the product lifecycle is managed effectively. You will engage directly with customers to gather feedback and incorporate their insights into our product vision, acting as an effective evangelist for EDB and its offerings. Collaboration with product and engineering peers will be essential to deliver a well-defined product roadmap. You will also be responsible for maintaining a prioritized backlog of features for the engineering team, complete with clear acceptance criteria. Supporting the sales team through collaboration with product marketing and enablement will ensure that they are well-prepared for new releases. In this role, you will lead initiatives that leverage modern database technologies, including NewSQL and NoSQL, to build robust and scalable data platforms. You will also drive the integration of AI and emerging technologies into our product offerings, ensuring that EDB remains at the forefront of industry trends and enhances its product capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally within EDB across engineering, marketing, sales, and other functions to take ideas through the entire lifecycle, from ideation to production.
  • Engage with customers to understand and incorporate their feedback into the product vision while effectively promoting EDB's offerings.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering peers to deliver the product's roadmap.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of features for the engineering team with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Support the Sales team by collaborating with product marketing and enablement to prepare for new releases.
  • Bring an inquisitive, innovative, and collegiate attitude to problem-solving.
  • Lead initiatives leveraging modern database technologies, including NewSQL and NoSQL, to build robust and scalable data platforms.
  • Drive the integration of AI and emerging technologies into product offerings.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success as a product manager for a complex, data-intensive offering with enterprise customers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to explain complex topics and provide audience-appropriate summarizations.
  • Solid understanding of modern product management principles and product development processes.
  • Solid understanding of database fundamentals, including types, uses, and features of databases.
  • Experience with modern database technologies, such as NewSQL and NoSQL, and building data platforms.
  • Ability to think outside the box to bring innovative solutions involving AI and newer technologies into the product landscape.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA with a technical undergraduate degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of the Postgres ecosystem and experience using or managing Postgres.
  • Knowledge of open-source software (OSS) and OSS communities, with a preference for familiarity beyond just Postgres.
