About the position

Avantor is seeking a Product Manager for Digital Bioprocess Solutions to spearhead the management of our sensors products portfolio tailored for biopharma production applications. This role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities including portfolio management, strategy development, pricing, life cycle management, and the oversight of top and bottom line growth. The position is designed to blend external partnership development with traditional product life cycle management, thereby enhancing Avantor's competitive edge in the bioprocessing sector. In this role, the Product Manager will be tasked with comprehensively understanding market needs and competitive landscapes to drive the design of our sensors and smart systems. This involves collaborating closely with the sales team to promote technology adoption and ensuring that the internal organization is aligned to support and expand the product range effectively. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a focus on achieving strategic business objectives. The successful candidate will act as the business owner for the sensors and automation product portfolio within the Biopharma production business. This includes not only meeting revenue and gross margin targets but also leading all aspects of the business. The role requires a proactive approach to data analysis related to competitors, market positioning, and pricing strategies, as well as the development of long-range product strategies that guide fiscal planning for future growth and evolution of the product line. The Product Manager will also be responsible for establishing and nurturing strategic collaborations with customers, suppliers, and industry leaders to enhance product offerings and market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sensors and automation portfolio of products within the Biopharma production business.
  • Meet or exceed revenue and gross margin targets for the product line.
  • Provide competitive market data and analysis to inform product positioning and pricing strategies.
  • Develop long-range product strategies and guide fiscal planning for future growth.
  • Identify and establish strategic collaborations with customers and industry leaders.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to define and implement go-to-market strategies.
  • Participate in senior leadership meetings to set objectives and strategies for the product line.
  • Drive cross-business unit initiatives to achieve organizational goals.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for sensors and automation products to support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Represent Avantor at conferences and tradeshows, effectively communicating product strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Science or Engineering required; master's degree in scientific field or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the life sciences industry, product management, or market development.
  • Deep understanding of sensor integration in bioprocessing applications.
  • 5+ years of technical or commercial experience with automation or advanced analytics technologies.
  • Technical competence and familiarity with bioproduction or closely related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate business cases and guide objective decision-making processes.
  • Results-oriented with a high sense of urgency.
  • Strong project management and planning skills, comfortable making decisions and adopting changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organizational structure.
