About the position

Gusto is a modern, online people platform that helps small businesses take care of their teams. We are seeking a Product Manager to work with our Embedded Core API team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and improving the Embedded API to enable our Embedded partners to quickly create high-quality experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and business development, to deliver high-quality APIs and components that empower our partners to build their own Gusto-powered applications. The Gusto Embedded Payroll team is our newest business unit, driving the next arc of innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third-party SMB platform to build, sell, and serve payroll in a way that suits their needs. Our API offering allows other companies to provide payroll services to their customers within their applications or services. By creating a more seamless payroll experience for SMBs, we aim to expand Gusto's platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly. As a Product Manager, you will drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that enhance the offerings of our Embedded partners. You will work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible. Additionally, you will partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, CX, Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross-functional problems. You will also identify emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.), to elevate our product experience to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that improve the products of our Embedded partners.
  • Work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, CX, Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross-functional problems.
  • Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, especially related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.) to push our product experience to the next level.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in product management with experience building API-first technical products for developers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical products, from concept to launch, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Expertise and passion for working cross-functionally and influencing platform teams within larger organizations.
  • Analytical mindset and proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with experience using metrics and analytics tools to drive product insights and improvements.
  • Experience in Fintech or HR is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive cash compensation targeted at $126,000 to $156,000 in Denver & most major metro locations, and $163,000 to $201,000 for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle.
  • Flexible work arrangements with the option to work from home when not in the office.
  • Collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
