About the position

The Global Product Manager for the Core Assays Portfolio at Abbott Laboratories is responsible for leading and directing global marketing activities for the i-STAT systems portfolio. This role involves developing and executing strategies for product lifecycle management, ensuring effective marketing and competitive positioning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product success in the healthcare diagnostics market.

Responsibilities

  • Direct global marketing activities associated with on-market Assays such as blood gases and chemistries.
  • Establish marketing strategies for the portfolio of Cardiac/Coagulation Assays, including advertising/promotions, pricing strategy, and product development.
  • Drive product positioning and competitive selling strategies, managing logistics, market share, and revenue.
  • Identify key segment business drivers, priorities, and growth opportunities.
  • Participate in the development of business plans and modify marketing programs based on marketplace changes.
  • Develop and execute product education, publication, and promotional activities to communicate strategic positioning.
  • Manage ongoing surveillance of emerging technologies and competitive activities.
  • Plan and execute product discontinuation, including messaging and communications strategy.
  • Build strong working relationships with regions and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree
  • 4+ years of experience in healthcare marketing and/or sales
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and listening skills with senior level staff
  • Demonstrated track record of success in portfolio management, product launches, and commercialization
  • Ability to market highly technical science
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation; leadership and team orientation; strong proactive interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and manage cross-functional teams by influence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in business, life sciences, engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in diagnostics, IVD, or medical devices
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to define objectives and manage deadlines
  • Understanding of the complexities of the diagnostics market and customer needs
  • Technical content experience
  • Global experience
