About the position

As the Forge Product Manager at Shield AI, you will be responsible for guiding the development and roadmap of Hivemind Forge, a platform for autonomy development and testing. This role involves setting priorities for software releases based on a comprehensive understanding of user and customer needs, and requires direct interaction with autonomy and test engineers. You will ensure that the product meets industry-leading standards in capabilities, quality, and documentation while addressing complex challenges in autonomy development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a roadmap for Hivemind Forge that provides cutting-edge applications and tools for autonomy development.
• Design and oversee the delivery of scalable software solutions for autonomy development challenges.
• Interface directly with customers to understand their goals and needs regarding development workflows.
• Develop product requirements based on customer insights and needs.
• Act as an expert user and advocate for Hivemind Forge, ensuring its capabilities and quality are industry-leading.
• Understand the business and technical landscape affecting the product.

Requirements

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 9 years and a Master's degree; or 7 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
• B.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical degree.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience and 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience developing developer-oriented software products.
• Comfortable working in a UNIX terminal and using Git, CMake, and Docker.
• Expert communicator and collaborator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to balance technical vs business risks and turn engineering output into business outcomes.
• Relentless learner with the ability to develop specialized knowledge for a highly technical product.
• Deep customer empathy and creativity in crafting technical solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or MBA.
• Experience developing and shipping software for autonomous robots or autonomy software.
• Experience in highly technical customer-facing roles.
• Expertise with modern scalable software technologies and frameworks such as Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.
• Experience with defense-focused simulators such as NGTS, AFSIM, etc.
• Experience with unmanned air or maritime systems.
• Experience in cybersecurity, especially for US defense or government customers.
