About the position

The Product Manager I (Customer & Banker Engagement) at M&T Bank is responsible for overseeing the profitability and strategic direction of Debit and Credit Cards sold through retail channels. This role involves ensuring that products are marketable, profitable, and compliant with legal and regulatory standards, while also driving account originations through effective education and training materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Debit Card and Credit Card businesses and their functions, processes, and operations.
  • Combine technical understanding with business knowledge to anticipate impacts of strategy and process change.
  • Work with Retail sales channels and support areas to develop education materials and training to drive account originations.
  • Serve as business lead on projects related to Debit Cards and Credit Cards.
  • Review new developments in company markets, evaluating and recommending new services or products, or modifications of existing services or products.
  • Seek out and evaluate customer and banker feedback to recommend and prioritize future product enhancements and initiatives.
  • Evaluate new product/services success; recommend changes in sales or service strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of new trends and developments in marketing and company products and services.
  • Perform reporting and analysis relating to the product portfolio.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years' proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience.
