About the position

The Product Manager II for Virtual Machine Instances at Google Cloud is responsible for guiding the development and launch of innovative infrastructure products. This role involves working cross-functionally to connect technical and business aspects, ensuring that products meet user needs and drive business outcomes. The position focuses on analyzing market trends, managing product strategy, and collaborating with various teams to enhance Google's cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new instance types in Compute Engine, including intercepting new technologies, roadmap planning, business growth forecasting, ecosystem, and customer adoption.
  • Manage the product strategy for VM Instance types and associated business outcomes, presenting to key GCP leadership.
  • Work across hardware, software, operations, research, and other product teams towards long-term product goals.
  • Understand competitive industry trends and application ecosystems to identify areas for innovation.
  • Provide data-driven insights to prioritize engineering initiatives and drive new capabilities in the foundational Compute Infrastructure layer.
  • Collaborate with peers across all layers of the cloud stack including Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Business Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience developing or launching infrastructure products or technologies within networking, storage, compute hardware, databases, file systems, data analytics, cluster management, and other software infrastructure areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
  • Experience in compute architecture, data center infrastructure, CPU (x86/Arm) and I/O technologies, Cloud Infrastructure, Storage.
  • Experience bringing tech products to market.
  • Knowledge of different workload requirements and their demands on the underlying infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate and influence decisions cross-functionally and at all levels of an organization.
