About the position

The Product Engineer III at Galvion serves as a crucial link between various departments including Industrial Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality. This role is responsible for managing the development of new Power and Data Systems (P&DS) products and enhancing existing ones, ensuring compliance with specifications and integration into current systems. The position also involves leading project teams to deliver high-quality products for military markets and making strategic recommendations to business leadership regarding potential partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Act as first-line technical resource for internal customer inquiries related to Galvion products for the P&DS Business Unit.
  • Influence and own product roadmap implementation for at least one product line, developing priorities for improvements in conjunction with Product Management.
  • Develop and maintain product configuration.
  • Participate in the implementation of tools and processes to maintain product configuration integrity.
  • Update and release technical data packages.
  • Interface with Marketing for sales collateral development and Customer Support for field support processes implementation.
  • Recommend concepts to meet functional, military/commercial applications, and customer needs.
  • Update and maintain the Product Life Cycle (PLC) process for new product design, development, and management.
  • Formulate detailed plans, develop timelines and cost estimates for development tasks, and inform management of performance against plan.
  • Evaluate, document, and implement design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety, or cost.
  • Assess reliability, safety, performance, and technical risk.
  • Coordinate and communicate development schedules or design issues throughout the technical team.
  • Create product specifications in alignment with customer requirements.
  • Lead the technical team to ensure all technical and customer documentation meet requirements.
  • Work with the technical team, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to ensure progress against plan.
  • Create the Bill of Materials and manage it through product development, including cost analysis interaction with Finance and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Create and review test and validation plans for new products to validate conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure proper Design-For-'X' (Dfx) analysis and guidance is provided to the development team.
  • Identify and ensure that Intellectual Property is captured.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal/external customers on all technical matters on projects.
  • Communicate technical points between the project team and the customer.
  • Determine and follow up on engineering actions between progress review meetings.
  • Lead the implementation of Design-To-Cost (DTC) and support supplier choice and overall commercial strategy for projects.
  • Support Design-For-Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Lead technical representative for all Requests for Proposals, Quotes, and Whitepapers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in Electrical or Systems Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in a product development environment or related engineering role.
  • Experience in product development cycle in defense, tactical communications, design-to-cost methodology, or military standards.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and leadership skills with the ability to drive outcomes and accountability.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications/technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of QMS, ISO, industry standards, military standards, and associated procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned scope.
  • Highly motivated problem solver with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with industry standard CAD, CAM, and PLM software.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
