About the position

As a Product Manager at Carvana, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing the vehicle reconditioning process. Since our inception in 2013, Carvana has been dedicated to transforming the car buying experience, and we are looking for a passionate individual to join our innovative team. In this role, you will support the development of a custom inspection, parts, and reconditioning platform that leverages machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to automate processes and enhance user experiences. Your contributions will be pivotal in designing new products and ensuring that we continue to set ambitious goals in everything we do. You will be involved in every step of the software delivery process, from conducting market research and customer interviews to solution design and product iteration. Your expertise will guide the team in scoping releases, writing detailed requirements, and prioritizing features and bugs. As the expert in your domain, you will be responsible for the success of projects, the movement of key metrics, and ultimately, the long-term satisfaction of our customers. Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data to inform product decisions.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to scope releases.
  • Write detailed requirements and prioritize features and bugs.
  • Drive the vision and strategy of the product throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Write requirements and acceptance criteria in collaboration with UX, engineering, data science, and QA teams.
  • Focus the team on solving the most important problems with user-centric solutions.
  • Become an expert in user inspection, parts purchasing, and vehicle reconditioning processes.
  • Run and analyze product experiments to guide future decisions based on results.
  • Interpret analytics and customer data to inform product direction.
  • Collaborate with various teams including Engineering, Creative, Marketing, Finance, Pricing, and Customer Advocacy.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software product management.
  • Deep product experience at one or more highly successful (and ideally hypergrowth) companies.
  • Experience with SQL and a deep understanding of metrics for reporting solutions.
  • Experience building world-class, cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience with split-testing A/B design and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Open to feedback from all parts of the company.
  • A sense of humor.

Nice-to-haves

  • Product or development experience with mobile apps.
  • Good design sensibility with wireframes.
  • Knowledge of data science best practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Product strategy and roadmapping experience.
  • Familiarity with Tableau for report creation.
  • Understanding of ML models and AI capabilities.
  • Automotive industry experience or a fascination with cars.
