About the position

The Product Manager, Global IT Racks & Containment is a pivotal role that focuses on gathering and analyzing customer needs, evaluating market and regulatory trends, and developing new product roadmaps and strategies. This position is responsible for the global IT Rack offerings, collaborating with regional and functional teams to achieve financial objectives. The Offering Manager will exercise supervision over priorities, costs, methods, and resources in a global, matrixed environment. The Global Edge Systems business aims to help customers address the significant challenge of Digital Continuity for application users worldwide, leveraging technology leadership, global company scale, regional familiarity, and a deep understanding of customer needs. Digital Continuity solutions encompass critical infrastructure hardware, software, and services that ensure the continuous functionality of IT assets running digital applications across various sectors, including cloud, enterprise, industry, and communications. The deployments are anchored in two broad segments: Edge Rack Systems and Data Center Rack Systems, serving a diverse customer base that includes Fortune 10 global companies, small businesses, and government entities, as well as channel partners ranging from server OEMs to IT and electrical distributors, resellers, and managed service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the financial performance of the IT Rack & Containment offerings globally, with decision and resource allocation rights.
  • Support a solutions-strategy where IT Rack & Containment serve as the delivery structure for advanced power, thermal, and management technologies.
  • Ownership of the product lifecycle management function for IT Rack & Containment offerings globally, including hardware, software, and service.
  • Coordinate with peers to drive innovation, development, and delivery of IT Rack & Containment offerings, including specializations for AI, Cloud Services, and Edge Computing.
  • Enable global routes to market to facilitate commercial success, accentuating fit into Channel Partners' business models.
  • Enable supply bases for competitive fulfillment across all business regions globally.
  • Conduct competitive assessments in the relevant market space, including technology and market partnership opportunities.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities rooted in technology applications, particularly in cloud, colocation, and communications settings.
  • Execute and guide primary and secondary market research, interfacing directly with customer decision-makers and value chain stakeholders to acquire unfiltered Voice-of-Customer.
  • Develop comprehensive market requirements for IT Rack & Containment technologies, specialized for prioritized vertical and application segments, rooted in business outcome value drivers.
  • Facilitate tools development, content creation, and data management to grow Vertiv IT solutions revenue and profitability.
  • Achieve positioning as a trusted adviser to customers and channel partners relevant to target segments.
  • Influence and coordinate with peer leaders and teams globally to provide optimal customer experience.
  • Lead engagement with strategic customers and segments, addressing problems in deploying and managing IT assets, and delivering new methods and technologies.
  • Directly elicit customer feedback through face-to-face interactions with systems being optimized for specific use cases.
  • Drive and facilitate technical input for new product development at the product and system level.
  • Lead identification, prototyping, and validation of design improvements at the product and system level to enhance performance across the system life cycle.
  • Contribute to global product and solutions business strategies at the executive level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Engineering or product marketing degree preferred, but not required.
  • MBA beneficial but not required.
  • 3+ years related experience; product or industry experience preferred.
  • English fluency required, both written and spoken; other languages highly valued.
  • Team leadership and experience in a global product and customer environment highly valued.
  • Ability to directly interface with customers at the executive and technical levels is required.
