The Product Manager for Low Consistency Refining (LCR) will continue to develop and drive the non-OEM, competitive equipment segment of the Low Consistency Refiner service business with responsibility to promote growth in the refiner service market. This role will focus on strategically driven business growth in this non-OEM market segment and will require continued reverse engineering, product expertise, service sourcing/development, and parts sourcing. The role includes technical and selling leadership, including an ongoing analysis of the Andritz market position in each of these areas. The role requires the aggressive employment of innovation and optimization in all facets of the business. The Product Manager will be responsible for the profitability and growth of the competitive equipment product line, which includes working with support staff to ensure efficient execution of service projects and the development of the customer base. This position will provide direction to the sales force (equipment and services), develop proposals, product costing, and pricing in collaboration with the LCRP Manager & Site Manager. Additionally, the role involves providing product training to the sales force and RPMs to enable them to effectively explain and sell our products and services. Frequent travel to mills/customers is required to participate in service work and system optimization as necessary. The execution of projects will include service and all quality aspects, taking the lead in make/buy decisions related to the Product Line that directly impact the competitiveness and profitability of the Product Group. The Product Manager will also be responsible for gross margin management and cost control, maintaining the annual budget with assistance and feedback from the sales force and management team. Strategic planning with action items involving the regional and global product team will be essential, including the establishment of long- and short-term sales objectives and identifying annual training needs for the sales team. Furthermore, the role will involve developing marketing and promotion strategies, driving research & development, and implementing new products in collaboration with the regional and global product team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the non-OEM, competitive equipment segment of the Low Consistency Refiner service business.
  • Promote growth in the refiner service market.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of the Andritz market position in competitive equipment.
  • Provide direction to the sales force for equipment and services.
  • Develop proposals, product costing, and pricing with the LCRP Manager & Site Manager.
  • Provide product training to sales force and RPMs.
  • Travel to mills/customers for service work and system optimization.
  • Lead execution of projects including service and quality aspects.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or minimum of 5 years‘ experience.
  • Pulp and Paper Machinery experience required.
  • Paper Mill leadership experience highly desired.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and build a new customer base.
  • High capacity for strategic, logical, and methodical thinking.
  • Independent decision-making skills for mechanical problem solving.
  • Organizational skills to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Experience in management of commercial contracts.
  • Experience in negotiations and claim management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in MS Word Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Familiarity with service project execution and customer relationship management.
