About the position

The Product Manager at OCLC is responsible for overseeing all aspects of product planning and development, ensuring that the products align with the strategic goals of the organization. This role involves collaboration with various teams to produce product strategies, roadmaps, and marketing plans, ultimately contributing to the success of OCLC's technology services for libraries.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees market analysis and develops product strategy and business case.
  • Defines strategic product goals and produces product roadmap.
  • Collaborates on release plans with Development and finance for product budgets and forecasts.
  • Develops pricing strategies and product positioning plans to maximize profitability.
  • Provides leadership to cross-functional product workgroups and leads product management meetings.
  • Facilitates collaboration and communication between Development, Product Management, and other divisional workgroups.
  • Assists in the development of customer acquisition and retention strategies and manages relationships with user groups.
  • Generates market research and penetration statistics to inform product planning.
  • Provides training and support to sales and support teams, assisting in significant sales calls.
  • Analyzes reasons for product wins and losses against competition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 to 4 years experience in library services or library management systems.
  • 2 to 4 years experience in product, project, or program management.
  • 2 to 4 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field.
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model.
  • Demonstrated ability with financial planning and forecasting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing staff or team leadership.
  • Experience leading cross-functional workgroups.
  • Knowledge of OCLC products and services.
