About the position

We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our organization as the Product Manager, California on a full-time capacity. Largo Clean Energy (LCE), a subsidiary of Largo Inc., headquartered in Wilmington, MA and working to become a leader in long-duration energy storage. The company's VCHARGE battery system uses patented battery technology and proprietary vanadium electrolyte processing to provide customers with safe, efficient, low-cost, and long-lasting, long-duration energy storage. The parent company, Largo Inc., is an industry leader in global vanadium supply with operations in Brazil and corporate headquarters in Toronto, Canada. The Product Manager will work closely with customers, sales, and engineering to develop customer requirements, interface with internal and external stakeholders, and outline specific product requirements that are fed to engineering functions. A successful team member will be a self-starter, detail oriented, creative thinker, who can balance a multitude of tasks in a fast-paced environment accelerating long duration energy storage and grid decarbonization. This role is critical to the success of the organization and is expected to have an immediate impact on the company. The position requires an individual with a product-focused mentality to integrate near and long term technical and product development initiatives into a cohesive strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a product roadmap for VCharge portfolio
  • Own product development in partnership with larger program management organization
  • Recommend pricing ranges for the VCharge product portfolio with sales, finance, and accounting
  • Own cost model with inputs from peers and adjacent departments
  • Continuously update technical documentation database and external presentations in partnership with Program Manager and Sales
  • Act as an intermediary between Engineering organization and Sales/Customer
  • Own 'Voice of Customer' product requirements and communicate to larger Largo Clean Energy organization
  • Maintain a library of competitive information and adjust product strategy to suit
  • Drive successful customer projects in concert with program management organization, sales, and engineering
  • Develop deep knowledge of product strengths and weaknesses and provide key perspectives on decisions with the executive team
  • Become a trusted partner of other internal teams, including engineering, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain
  • Collaborate with key 3rd party partnerships to ensure customers receive an integrated, tuned solution that meets their needs
  • Own migrating product roadmap within approved timelines using approved strategies
  • Actively support customer engagement and sales cycles with Sales team

Requirements

  • Remotely based in California with open to travel up to 40% of the time
  • Degree in Engineering preferably Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and influence positively a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in product management or similar fields
  • Understanding of battery energy storage system applications and operational strategies a plus
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Able to wear a variety of protective equipment as required by safety procedures and regulations

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated success in product management roles in battery energy storage systems, fuel cells, etc.
  • Experience with electric utility based B2B products
  • Experience with PV systems and solutions for commercial customers
  • Experience with large scale system (hardware, firmware, or software) integration
  • Experience with distributed energy resource integration or controls
