About the position

The Product Manufacturing Engineer at Pratt & Whitney plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and delivery of manufacturing processes. This position is responsible for executing Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R). The successful execution of these processes is essential for improving the company's overall quality and delivery performance. The scope of this role encompasses both Pratt & Whitney's internal manufacturing operations and the supply chain components, ensuring that quality standards are met throughout the production process. As part of the Integrated Product Team, the Product Manufacturing Engineer will drive the identification and mitigation of manufacturing risks while implementing improvements to quality performance. This will involve utilizing various Problem Solving Methodologies, including DMAIC, 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, PFMEA, and Process Controls. The engineer will also employ statistical analysis tools to conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for non-conforming products, ensuring that quality issues are addressed promptly and effectively. In addition to these responsibilities, the engineer will participate in manufacturing reviews, transitions, and new product introductions, contributing to the continuous improvement of manufacturing standard work. The role also includes participating in supplier assessments to evaluate technical and manufacturing capabilities, as well as quality standards. This multifaceted position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive manufacturing risk identification, mitigation, and improvements to quality performance using Problem Solving Methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, PFMEA, and Process Controls).
  • Use statistical analysis tools to perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming products.
  • Participate in manufacturing reviews, transitions, new product introductions, and manufacturing standard work improvements.
  • Participate in supplier assessments for technical and manufacturing capability and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 2 years of prior relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Engineering, or Quality; OR Advanced Degree with prior relevant experience via Research, Internships or COOP's.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels of the organization and be self-sufficient.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Able to use Minitab and other statistical software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Investment Casting experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing of Aerospace Turbine Airfoil Components preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics using Minitab or other statistical software.
  • Six Sigma or Project Management Certification preferred.
