The Product Marketing Manager role is pivotal in owning the upstream portion of a product's journey to market. This involves leading the positioning of the product and developing a go-to-market strategy to ensure the product is set up for success. The role also encompasses the ongoing management of products in the category by recommending and establishing effective and competitive pricing, monitoring product performance, and managing the overall product lifecycle in our market. The Product Marketing Manager ensures that the Product Marketing strategy aligns with the overall Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) product category marketing strategy. This position is responsible for driving sales growth through effective channel strategy, product positioning, pricing, and distribution. It is crucial for the Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service teams, along with other relevant internal stakeholders, to understand the category's product functions and features to support overall product education objectives and successful product lifecycle management. In this role, the manager will develop Yamaha product Go-To-Market strategies for assigned product categories to create customer demand and preference for Yamaha products. They will drive alignment between internal stakeholders (Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service teams) and Yamaha Commercial Japan (YCJ) to ensure the product is ready for market. Additionally, the manager will ensure accurate review and assessment of the YCA product category supply chain, identifying target customers, their needs, and how products will meet those needs, acting as a conduit for the voice of the customer to the product team and company.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Product Marketing strategy maps to the overall YCA product category marketing strategy.
  • Ensures sales growth through effective channel strategy and product positioning, pricing, and distribution.
  • Ensures that Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service teams understand the category's product functions and features.
  • Develops Yamaha product Go-To-Market strategies for assigned product categories to create customer demand and preference for Yamaha products.
  • Drives alignment between internal stakeholders and YCJ to ensure product readiness for market.
  • Ensures accurate review and assessment of YCA product category supply chain.
  • Identifies target customers, their needs, and how products will meet those needs.
  • Owns competitive intelligence for the assigned product segment by administering the competitive intelligence tool and maintaining SWOT analyses.
  • Develops product position including market segmentation and product differentiation for targeted messaging.
  • Analyzes pricing impact and performs future pricing actions within the portfolio.
  • Develops an effective Go-To-Market strategy for new product launches and collaborates with cross-functional partners to plan for in-market execution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates success using qualitative and quantitative data to derive customer and/or business insights in support of product life cycle management.
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies and plans for new product launches with top consumer brands.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Budget management.
