About the position

As a Product Marketing Manager at Hearst Newspapers, you will be instrumental in driving the success of our digital advertising products. Reporting directly to the VP of Ad Product Marketing & Strategy, this role is pivotal in launching new and enhanced digital advertising solutions that cater to the evolving needs of our advertisers. You will be responsible for crafting compelling messaging and positioning for these products, ensuring that they resonate with our target audience and effectively communicate Hearst's unique value proposition. Your work will involve creating a variety of sales enablement assets, including sales presentations, packaging, and training materials, all designed to empower our sales teams and enhance their ability to engage with clients. In this dynamic position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product management, to develop market-ready sales packages that are informed by thorough industry research and competitive benchmarking. Your project management skills will be put to the test as you lead the cross-functional launch of new advertising products, ensuring that all marketing elements are executed flawlessly. You will also be responsible for maintaining the Ad Product Roadmap, coordinating with product owners across various digital advertising disciplines to ensure alignment and timely execution of product rollouts. Additionally, you will gather and translate market intelligence, leveraging insights from both internal and external research to inform product strategy and positioning. This includes identifying market opportunities for new products and understanding the needs and pain points of our target advertiser personas. Your ability to synthesize this information will be crucial in developing effective sales training and collateral that supports our sales teams in achieving their goals. Responsibilities

  • Utilize internal and external research to develop sales and marketing collateral that highlights Hearst's unique value proposition and measurable impact for advertisers.
  • Support global training and product experts to identify opportunities to enhance go-to-market execution.
  • Assist in creating market-ready sales packages in collaboration with sales, marketing, and product management teams, supported by industry research and competitive benchmarking.
  • Plan, create, and lead the cross-functional launch of new advertising product releases, executing the marketing elements of the rollout.
  • Schedule and update the Ad Product Roadmap in collaboration with product owners across several digital advertising disciplines.
  • Develop a post-launch process to track and assess new products based on advertiser and sales feedback, product effectiveness, revenue target achievement, ease of advertiser onboarding, and quality of fulfillment.
  • Leverage the research team for national and local media spending trends and competitive intelligence gathering to inform product strategy, positioning, and sales training.
  • Assist in discovering market opportunities for new products and crystallizing the needs/wants/pain points of target advertiser personas.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a strategic marketing role at a progressive media or B2B technology company.
  • Experience in developing sales collateral and messaging in collaboration with sales, design, and product teams.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong experience with Salesforce.com or equivalent CRM.
  • Experience developing pricing and go-to-market incentives for a package-based product set.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Passionate and focused with a relentless and hardworking attitude.
  • College degree required; MBA preferred.
