About the position

The position is accountable for the strategy and product lifecycle management of the Commercial Door Business under the Overhead Door and Wayne Dalton brand names. This role involves leading a cross-functional Product Business Team that is responsible for creating and executing an action plan aimed at increasing sales and margins for the business. The individual will oversee the full product development lifecycle, ensuring successful market launches and expansions. This includes managing the financial P&L for Commercial Doors, monitoring key performance metrics, and managing existing product lines along with a three-year roadmap. The role requires a strong background in product management, with 3 to 7 years of experience, particularly in a manufacturing environment and sales organizations or channels. A business development and product marketing background is essential, with experience in developing product plans and strategies. The individual must possess solid problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to deconstruct complex situations into manageable components that can be resolved collaboratively by the team. Additionally, leveraging brand marketing, market research, sales training, and field communications is crucial for success in this role. The position also demands excellent written and oral presentation skills for effective communication with both internal teams and external clients, as well as trade groups and seminars. Flexibility, adaptability, and a results-oriented mindset are key attributes for this role. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering is required, with an MBA considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the management of the full product development lifecycle and successful market launch and expansion.
  • Own the financial P&L for Commercial Doors including monitoring key performance metrics.
  • Manage existing Commercial door product lines and a 3-year roadmap.
  • Drive the development of business cases that define the product value proposition to support product roadmap investments in collaboration with business partners.
  • Analyze market situations and develop appropriate pricing strategies for current and new products.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitive analysis, and macro-industry trends.
  • Determine the new product development roadmap as well as customer requirements, launch commercialization, and financial returns.
  • Explore and develop new opportunities through products, branding, channels, processes, technologies, etc.
  • Link to existing product strategies and the overall strategic plan.

Requirements

  • 3 to 7 years of product management experience, including knowledge of manufacturing environments and sales organizations/channels, preferably in consumer durable or packaged goods.
  • Business development and product marketing background, with experience developing product plans and strategy work.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to break down complex situations into manageable pieces.
  • Experience in leveraging brand marketing, market research, sales training, and field communications.
  • Computer literate in MS Office products.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills for both internal groups and external clients and trade groups/seminars.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; action and results-oriented.
