About the position

The Enterprise Authentication Product Owner plays a crucial role in the execution of Truist's authentication strategy. This position involves interpreting and translating high-level criteria into actionable, consumable, and deliverable increments of work in collaboration with product managers, experience design teams, and technology delivery partners. The Product Owner is primarily accountable for the entire delivery lifecycle, which includes story definition, production implementation, and the full realization of new capabilities or enhancements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate executional excellence in Agile delivery, preferably within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and possess a balanced approach to user experience and iterative delivery with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) mindset. A foundational understanding of authentication programs and practices is also beneficial. In this role, the Product Owner partners with product managers to align business, technology, and design priorities, ensuring the delivery of brand-defining product and service experiences. The position requires a keen understanding of strategic impacts while focusing on the day-to-day details necessary for tactical execution. In Agile teams where both Business and Tech Product Owners exist, this role maintains joint accountability for the team's results. The Product Owner is responsible for executing strategies based on client and company needs, which may encompass client experience, back office processes, or systemic processes outside the client journey. They are integral to backlog management and work closely with Product Managers to translate product vision into actionable epics and features for delivery teams. The responsibilities of the Product Owner span the entire delivery process, from identifying areas for improvement to authoring user stories and collaborating with technical leads and scrum teams to ensure solutions effectively address experience priorities while maintaining technical integrity. This position takes a holistic view, ensuring the delivery of experiences across all related components within their assigned area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery team's priorities in PI planning, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies aligned to larger experience platform priorities.
  • Align with product managers to clearly articulate product strategy to the delivery team.
  • Deliver new experiences by collaborating with delivery, experience design, business, and operations partners.
  • Author and maintain the team's backlog of user stories and serve as a subject matter expert on features and product capabilities.
  • Perform triage on critical issues and communicate consistently with all concerned parties.
  • Serve as a key resource to the development team to answer questions and provide clarifications.
  • Update leadership on the epic and feature delivery schedule, including dependencies impacting deliverables.
  • Partner with solution architects to ensure solutions address program priorities while balancing client experience and technical integrity.
  • Facilitate sprint planning with stakeholder groups to drive alignment and visibility for feature development.
  • Facilitate sprint demos and provide final acceptance for completed user stories in sprint demos.
  • Coordinate the creation of release-specific business documents, such as support model definitions and internal release notes.
  • Ensure all Product Management Lifecycle (PML) processes are followed, supporting security, risk, and audit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, design, or technology field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Five or more years of banking, financial services, digital, or other relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of product, analysis, technology, and/or design experience.
  • Three or more years of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience defining and delivering digital business initiatives to execute on a product roadmap.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen and ability to work with technology organizations to align product and technology roadmaps.
  • Ability to translate strategic plans into tactical daily actions for execution.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Comfortable managing concurrent projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working as a Product Owner for Agile team(s).
  • Experience working with distributed teams (onshore/offshore).
  • Certified SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (or equivalent).
