As a Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in maximizing the value of our products, ensuring that they meet customer needs and drive business value. You will be at the center of delivering new products and driving innovation on platforms that enhance customer experience. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing the work of the team, managing risks, and addressing customer-impacting issues in your day-to-day role. You will act as a servant leader, guiding and mentoring team members while structuring their work effectively. In this role, you will interact and collaborate with stakeholders to align product vision, features, and roadmap. You will leverage customer insights, financial data, and compliance information to define product features and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the product team. You will create and maintain essential product documentation, identify non-functional requirements, and own the definition of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and user stories for the product roadmap. Your ability to build and prioritize the product backlog will be crucial in achieving the team's objectives. You will ensure that product features comply with Discover's standards and quality expectations, articulating requirements into use cases and acceptance criteria. Your role will also involve inspecting and evaluating product progress through each iteration, defining functional and non-functional requirements, and ensuring appropriate testing frameworks are in place. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to support go-to-market strategies and manage dependencies with other teams. Ultimately, you will contribute to the product development vision by connecting customer solutions with business goals, empowering your team to make decisions that drive accountability and ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and collaborate with stakeholders on key product considerations and align with product vision, features, and roadmap.
  • Leverage customer insights, feedback, financials, compliance, and risk data to define product features and roadmap in partnership with other SMEs.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the product team and ensure alignment with senior leadership.
  • Create and/or maintain key product documentation such as customer journey maps, technical specs, and process mapping.
  • Identify and define key non-functional requirements to achieve necessary product metrics.
  • Own the definition of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and features/user stories for delivery product roadmap.
  • Build and prioritize the product backlog to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and keep it updated.
  • Hold meetings with the product team to continuously update the product backlog.
  • Ensure product features and processes align with applicable compliance and risk management standards.
  • Ensure product adheres to the highest quality standards, including releasing security patches not linked to customers.
  • Articulate requirements into use cases, agile stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure compliance.
  • Create and validate user story acceptance criteria.
  • Inspect and evaluate product progress through each iteration.
  • Define functional and non-functional product requirements and ensure completeness.

  • Work with Data stewards to ensure required Data quality controls are identified and implemented.
  • Partner with business technology to create technical features required for system optimization and maintenance.

  • Contribute to product development and vision by connecting customer solutions with business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support go-to-market strategies.
  • Build a culture of accountability and ownership by empowering the product team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Engineering, Business Administration/management, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics.
  • 4+ years' experience with Product Management or Engineering in a financial services or technology industry, or related.
  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years' experience in Product Management or Engineering in a financial services or technology industry, or related.

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile certification - Certified Scrum Master or Scrum Product Owner.
  • Experience and understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) capabilities.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Python, Chef, and Cloud Deployment Manager).
  • Kubernetes experience.
  • Open Shift experience.
  • Scientific-computing experience (Python, R, ML).
